A patient recently asked for a healthy chocolate recipe so today I whipped up one that almost resembles a chocolate thick shake or Nutella shake even.
This chocolate goodness contains hazelnuts amongst other goodies. Hazelnuts are rich in healthy fats manganese, copper, vitamin E and have a decent amount of magnesium and iron. Did you know that hazelnut skins are rich in antioxidants (polyphenols) with total antioxidant capacity richer than dark chocolate, espresso coffee and blackberries. As most nuts they have the capacity to improve cardiovascular health, lipid profiles, reducing LDL and may have an anti-inflammatory effect. For more on Nuts read this article.
As a side note this smoothie is packed full of fibre and spices that improve digestion and will help give you a healthy daily poop.
