I must say I look after my skin well, I always have so it is no surprise that I frequently get asked what my daily skincare routine is. This does not mean I spend loads of time on my skin. In fact when you use quality, chemical free products, eat well and make sure the human “pipes” are working optimally your skin loves you for it.
Below are items I use every day to ensure my skin looks amazing and youthful...most of the time 🙂
Step 1 - Cleanse - Weleda Almond Cleansing Lotion
I choose a cleansing lotion to gently remove bacteria, make up and grime off my face. Especially during winter when my skin gets a little drier. A pea size is all that is needed so this 75ml container can last up to 6 months. If you have oilier skin I would recommend Mukti Balancing Foaming Cleanser
Microfibre Baby Wash Cloths – I love these. You can easily and effectively remove all your makeup and cleanse your face with a damp Microfibre Cloth. They gently remove makeup, eyeliner and even mascara without having to use harsh soap or make-up removers. Just add water to cleanse. It’s lightweight, portable and dries fast so also amazing for travel.
Step 2 - Eye Cream – 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream
I Like using an eye cream that contains natural antioxidants which protect the skin from damage and brightens my sometimes tired looking eyes. I have always loved the sun, beach, smiling and laughing. If you have seen the size of my Croatian head, you’ll notice that when I smile my entire face smiles too. Sadly the fine lines around my eyes are a reflection of my chosen climate and cheery face. I have learned to love these minor architectural reminders of good days and instead use creams to reduce its appearance. I have tried and have loved many eye creams but my favourite right now is Pure Coffee Bean because it brightens my eyes and lessens the lines without breaking the piggy bank.
Step 3 - Moisturise with Ecology –Pete Evans Daily Moisturiser with Ylang Ylang & Desert Lime (my favourite, smells amazing)
A small amount of this all natural cream is all that is needed. I rub a pea size into the palm of my hands and pat the cream onto my face and neck. Whatever is left over I use as a hand cream. I find this cream super gentle, great for all skin types, hydrating and the biggest bonus is that it smells amazing. Hydration for the skin is like an injection of water into a raisin to make it a grape...Think plump and succulent. 🙂
There are 5 types to choose from depending on your skin type. I have used them all at various times depending on my skins needs. You may want to use Replenishing day and night face cream if you tend toward sensitive, irritated skin, Rejuvenating day and night cream if you tend toward dry and damaged skin, Revitalising day and night cream for all skin types, Soothing Baby Moisturising Cream with Sunflower & Calendula if your skin reacts easily and the yummy Pete Evans Daily Moisturiser with Desert Lime & Basil. The fella wears this one and I can not tell you how much I crumble into sensory bliss after he applies his ecology cream for the day. Sigh!
Note - One big mistake people make when using Ecology creams is to use too much. Use a pea size, warm it up in your hands and pat it onto your face. Any more and you run the risk of clogging your pores and developing a pimple or two.
Step 4 - Protect with Sun Cream – Eco Logical face suncream 30+
I like to protect the skin on my face from sun damage with a natural, non greasy sunscreen. This cream is by far the best that I have found. I like to enjoy plenty of outdoor activities so having quality sunscreen that protects my skin from the earth’s, sometimes harsh elements is a must. Besides if I can avoid premature ageing due to sun damage then It’s a non negotiable.
Step 5 - Evacuate the bowels with BetterMe tea
Good skin comes from making sure I consistently remove food, metabolic and other toxic waste from my body through daily, healthy poos. If you leave constipation unattended, you run the risk of skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, eczema etc. Learn more about how constipation leads to bad skin and what you can do about it in my article.
