As you know I am extremely passionate about helping people poop regularly, rebooting the intestinal pipes and clearing out toxins and by products of “body manufacturing”. If you need a refresher on why pooping regularly is important read the following article.
I often get asked what my skin care routine entails because my skin is rarely with a blemish and generally looks fresh and healthy. I must admit I do very little to enhance the health of my skin or do I? I guess that statement is very relative to who I'm talking to.
Today I will share with you my ridiculously simple and inexpensive skin care routine. If you feel as though your skin could do with some tender loving care why not implement a few of these suggestions and let me know how your skin responds after three months.
Let's start with going natural with your skin care products. Why would one want to entertain this idea?
In a nutshell toxin exposure from skin care and cleaning products can lead to chronic inflammatory conditions such as;
- Hormone disruption
- Gut dysbiosis
- Linked to breast cancer
- Skin irritation
This list is not exhaustive mind you...
Many people, including myself have been paralysed by the overwhelming time and money we think it will take to completely move from chemical based skin care and cleaning products to natural body loving, nourishing friends. My biggest piece of advice to you is to start the journey slowly but for the love of “GOD aka YOU”, please start. When you finish one product, replace it with a new, natural alternative. It may take you a few years to make the change completely but guess what?... That’s absolutely ok. In fact I am still in the process of making this shift myself and it’s not an overnight sensation or quick fix let me tell you.
Contrary to popular belief it’s not as expensive as we think it is. In fact, it is often cheaper because you use less, and isn’t prevention of dis-ease in the body cheaper as a general rule? Think less pharmaceutical band-aid medications and time off work.
Most of my skin care and cleaning products are natural, however there are also many that are not. For instance it has taken me years to find a natural deodorant that did not leave me feeling rather putrid at the end of the day. But alas the day has come and I couldn’t be happier, thanks to No Pong bicarb free deodorant . It's bicarb free so no irritating skin rashes and it smells great.
Note - be mindful that your pits may go through a short detox, which may include excess sweating, itchiness and odour, so give your pits some time to adjust to the natural alternative. It is worth the short detour.
The following podcasts, platforms, companies and products have helped make my journey smoother. I will leave it up to the experts in this field to educate you, because you deserve that right? The best of the best. 🙂

ECOLOGYÂ Â SKIN MOISTURISERS
As a practitioner who specialises in gut health and constipation I see a lot of people with irritated and agro skin such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and acne. What is the link between gut and skin? Learn more here.  Individuals often need something to soothe tired, angry skin while we work below the surface, on improving the health of the gut microbiome (gut flora) and regulating bowel movements. I recommend the following moisturising creams from Ecology. Crystal, the founder of Ecology was driven to create a range of clean, chemical free creams from her own personal struggles with skin health that not only soothe irritated skin but also hydrate and replenish.
